2 Young Artists Win Billboard Contest
Two students from Magnolia Avenue School have their posters splashed across billboards on Washington Boulevard as part of an advertising campaign sponsored by the Washington Boulevard Business Watch.
The campaign, called “A Clean Neighborhood Is a Safe Neighborhood,” drew entries from 60 schoolchildren at Magnolia.
Los Angeles City Councilman Mike Hernandez and members of the business group joined dozens of the young artists Tuesday to unveil the winning posters.
The grand prize went to kindergarten pupil Jesus Palacios’ drawing of flowers and birds and fourth-grader Diana Navarro’s picture of a day in a park.
Their posters will be displayed for the next five weeks on billboard space donated by Eller Media Co.
All of the other poster entries have been mounted and hung in storefronts along Washington Boulevard.
