Ex-Custodial Supervisor Convicted
A former custodial supervisor in the Inglewood school district was convicted Thursday of pocketing more than $150,000 in salaries by recruiting more than 25 friends, acquaintances and relatives to be phantom employees on his payroll, Deputy Dist. Atty. Dan Nixon said.
Andrew Lee Truesdale could face up to six years in prison. He is being held in L.A. County Men’s Jail in lieu of $419,000 bail. He is scheduled to be sentenced July 16, Nixon said.
The 50-year-old former school district employee was arrested in October 1996, nearly one year after police launched an investigation into the scheme. The school district became concerned when the budget for the substitute custodial staff was nearly 10 times its normal size during the first quarter of fiscal 1995.
