Piranha update--Anaheim lost its third game of the season by three points or less last week, 41-40, to Orlando. In each of the close losses, kicker Ian Howfield has missed a key extra point or field goal. Howfield, second in the league in scoring among kickers with 77 points, missed two extra points against Orlando. Wide receiver/defensive back Rodney Mazion has been a terror on opponents’ special teams. Mazion leads the league with 786 kickoff return yards. Injuries continue to plague the Piranhas. Twelve players will miss tonight’s game because of an injury.

Forest Dragon update--Last season as the Memphis Pharoahs, Portland went 0-14. The Forest Dragons beat Milwaukee in their opener, 45-41, but have lost their last seven. They lost to San Jose, 42-29, last week. Former Washington State quarterback Chad Davis completed 18 of 32 passes for 196 yards and a touchdown in the loss. Rookie Jason Stiles of Western Washington will start tonight at quarterback for Portland, which is coached by former NFL lineman Stan Brock.
