Taliban Accuses Foes of Killing POWs
The Taliban Islamic movement complained to the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross that the opposition northern alliance was killing Taliban prisoners, a Pakistan-based Afghan news service said. The complaint was made in letters given by the Taliban government’s Foreign Ministry to U.N. and Red Cross offices in the southern Afghan town of Kandahar, the Afghan Islamic Press said, quoting Taliban sources. Groups of prisoners are daily taken out of prison and killed, it quoted the letters as saying.
