Kevorkian Lawyer Ties Him to Suicide

Dr. Jack Kevorkian was involved in the suicide of a woman with multiple sclerosis, his lawyer said. Karen Shoffstall, 34, of Long Beach, N.Y., committed suicide at a suburban Detroit motel in the presence of Kevorkian and his associate, Janet Good, attorney Geoffrey Fieger said. The death is the first that Fieger has directly acknowledged Kevorkian’s involvement in since October 1996. Since then, there have been eight deaths in which Fieger has said he represented the family.
