Russia’s problem-plagued Mir space station will be visible for about 10 minutes shortly after sunset. Mir will move across the sky from northwest to southeast nearly overhead from 8:09 to 8:20 p.m. It may appear even brighter than Jupiter or Venus (drawing is not to scale). A cautionary note: The space station, which experienced a serious computer breakdown this week, has a somewhat irregular orbit, so its appearance time may change.
