4 Officers Indicted in Sodomy Case

Four police officers accused of torturing a Haitian immigrant who says he was sodomized with a toilet plunger in a police station bathroom were indicted on charges of attacking him because of his race. A grand jury also indicted the officers--Justin Volpe, 25, Charles Schwarz, 31, Thomas Wiese, 33, and Thomas Bruder, 31--on charges of second-degree assault for allegedly taking turns beating Abner Louima while driving him to the 70th Precinct station house following his arrest Aug. 9.
