Share

Opponent--Sacramento Monarchs.

Site--Forum.

Time--7:30.

Radio--KVCA (670 AM, Spanish).

Records--Sparks 13-13, Monarchs 9-17.

Update--Having reached .500 for the first time since they were 2-2 in June, the Sparks hope to be riding a four-game winning streak into a Sunday showdown at Phoenix. The Sparks conclude their 14-game home schedule tonight against the Monarchs, after a dramatic victory over the New York Liberty on Wednesday. Linda Burgess sank two free throws with less than a second remaining for a 78-76 victory, giving Los Angeles its fifth win in six games. Sacramento arrives with the WNBA’s second-worst record and as losers of three in a row--all routs--to Phoenix, New York and Charlotte. Western Conference leader Phoenix, meanwhile, plays its last two at home, against Charlotte tonight and the Sparks on Sunday. If the Sparks win out, they will be in a semifinal playoff game at the Forum on Thursday night. If Phoenix beats Charlotte and loses to Los Angeles, both will be 15-13 and the Sparks will win the division, based on a 3-1 record against the Mercury.
