Loan booklet--Reader John G. Lopez of Long Beach points out that if you have requested the 35-page booklet on settlement costs we wrote about last week (“Settlement Costs Booklet Is Borrower Friendly”), you might not get the 1997 version.

The federal government has permitted lenders to use the previous versions of the booklet until their supplies are exhausted or until Sept. 9, whichever is earlier.
