Opponent--Portland Pride

Site--The Rose Garden Arena, Portland

Time-- 6 p.m.

Records--Splash 9-8, Pride 9-11.

Splash update--The defense, which surrendered only one first-half goal to Portland in a 7-6 overtime loss Wednesday, looks to redeem itself. Ricky Rodriguez was whistled for a handball in overtime, which allowed Jeff Betts the chance to end the game in a shootout--which he did. The Splash has won four out of its last five after its 8-6 victory over Indiana Saturday. The Splash has fallen behind by three goals or more in each of its last three games, winning twice. It scored six of the last seven goals against Indiana. Bernie Lilavois, coming off his second hat trick in four games, leads the Splash with 36 points, including 26 goals.

Pride update--Portland has won seven of its last 10 games, but is coming off a a 7-6 loss at Seattle. Still, the Pride looks as if it has established itself, along with Seattle, Sacramento and Anaheim, as one of the four teams that will advance to the playoffs from the Western Division. The Pride’s Jeff Betts is among the league’s top five scorers, both in points (42) and goals (26). Portland has won two of three games against the Splash, including both at the Rose Garden.
