46-Year Fugitive From Road Gang Is Freed

A man arrested for walking away from a prison work gang 46 years ago was freed after authorities decided incarcerating him served “no good purpose.” Sam Turner, 75, had been a fugitive since 1951, when he fled a road gang in central Georgia while serving an eight-year term for voluntary manslaughter and burglary.
