The International Monetary Fund approved an $8-million loan to help war-torn Rwanda rebuild its economy and bring inflation down. An IMF statement issued in Washington said its “emergency post-conflict assistance” will underpin the government’s economic program, which envisages 12.7% growth this year. “Real GDP continues to recover at a fast pace, although it is still before the prewar level,” the IMF said. “Inflation remains under control, and international reserves have been maintained.” This is the second IMF loan for Rwanda this year.
