3 SAT Takers Earn Near-Perfect Scores

Three Garden Grove Unified School District seniors scored near-perfect results on the scholastic assessment test and placed in the top 2% of test takers nationwide.

Kie Choo of Garden Grove High School scored 1560 of the possible 1600 on the college entrance exam, earning 780 points each on the verbal and math portions of the SAT.

Two La Quinta High School students, Phu Cam Nguyen and Mike Knox, both of Westminster, earned scores of 1520.

Phu earned 760 points each in math and verbal, and Mike scored 770 in verbal and 750 in math.

Kie, a Garden Grove resident, has applied to several universities including Stanford, Princeton and Harvard.

Mike plans to pursue medicine at UCLA, and Phu plans to prepare for a law degree with a major in English at UC Berkeley or UCLA.
