New Home Construction Dips Slightly in May

There were 302 single-family homes sold in the Conejo Valley in May, down slightly from the 309 sold in April but up from 268 sold a year earlier, according to the Conejo Valley Assn. of Realtors.

The median sales price for all single-family homes in May was $266,392, compared with $247,100 in May 1996. The median price is the point where half the units sold for more and half for less.

The median price breakdowns were $165,000 for 15 homes with up to two bedrooms; $219,696 for 104 three-bedroom homes; and $301,162 for 183 homes with four or more bedrooms. A year earlier, the breakdown was $160,000 for 12 two-bedroom homes; $212,036 for 99 three-bedroom homes, and $295,000 for 157 homes with four or more bedrooms.

There were 103 condominiums sold in the Conejo Valley in May, compared with 80 in April and 87 in May 1996.

Total sales for all real estate transactions in May was $113.2 million. In 1996, the figure was $97.9 million.
