Re “U.S. Tightening Rules to Sponsor Immigrants,” June 30: How ironic, that a nation founded upon the principles of “freedom,” should advocate blatant discrimination against those most in need of the opportunities the U.S. is renowned for.
Instead of considering the beneficial results of immigration, numerous fallacies concocted by the self-righteous override, manifesting themselves in elitist laws. Immigrants do not come to this country because it is “Club Med.” They do not leave their loved ones and native countries to sponge off taxpayers (as if they do not pay any taxes at all--namely, sales tax).
Immigrants exemplify ambition and their presence fosters diversity. Should immigrants be denied entrance based on low income, the whole spirit of “Liberty Enlightening the World” will be shot.
