Safety Measures

In addition to tips on selecting a stroller, the American College of Sports Medicine offers tips for usage, especially during exercise.

* Use the parking brake when helping your child into and out of the stroller.

* Steer using a wide, gentle arc.

* The exercising person’s temperatures rises, but the riding child’s temperature remains the same or can decrease if you’re exercising into a head wind on a cold day. Be certain to dress your child appropriately for the weather conditions.

* Parents should not use a stroller’s handlebars for hanging extra jackets, diaper bags or shopping bags. It can increase the possibility of the stroller moving on its own or tipping over on an incline.
