City Gives Go-Ahead for Improvements
City officials will use $14.6 million budgeted for capital improvements to upgrade and repair streets, medians, sidewalks, alleys, parks, railroad crossings and fire stations across town.
Some of the projects are:
* Replacing deteriorating concrete at railroad crossings with rubber panels so motorists will have smoother drives at Cypress Street, Harbor Boulevard and Walnut Street, south of La Habra Boulevard.
* Rehabilitating portions of a number of streets, including Arbolita Drive, Cypress Street, Euclid Street, Walnut Street and Woodbrier Drive.
* Beautifying medians on Harbor Boulevard at Lambert Road and Imperial Highway at Beach Boulevard by planting flowers and installing irrigation systems.
* Erecting poles that eventually will hold decorative banners on major streets.
* Coordinating traffic signals on Imperial Highway.
* Installing security lighting and drawing up landscaping plans at La Bonita Park.
* Reroofing and replacing ceiling tiles at fire stations 1 and 2.
