SPLASH TONIGHT

Share

Opponent--Sacramento Knights

Site--Arco Arena

Time--7

Records--Splash 5-3, Knights 8-2.

Splash update--Everything is going right for the Splash. Defender Rich Ryerson, acquired from Indiana in the trade for Paul McDonnell, missed seven games because of a concussion, then played well with three blocks in the Splash’s recent 5-4 victory over Seattle. That victory knocked the SeaDogs out of first place. The Splash gets a chance to do the same thing to Sacramento. Forward Bernie Lilavois, who will play in Tuesday’s all-star game at Arco Arena (along with forward Dale Ervine and defender Doug Neely), has 13 goals and and five assists and is among the league scoring leaders. The Splash defense, anchored by goalkeeper Ruben Fernandez (4.48 goals-against average) and defenders John O’Brien and Thor Lee, has given up only 19 goals in the last five games, during which the Splash has won four games.

Knights update--Sacramento will have four players in the all-star game, including starting forward Jon Parry and defender Iain Fraser (19 blocks). Parry (17 goals, nine assists) is among the league’s top five scorers. Other all-stars are the league’s leading goalkeeper, Dan Madsen (3.97 GAA) and forward Mark Thomas. Sacramento has the top penalty-killing unit in the league; the Splash is among the worst in power-play efficiency.
