Plaque to Mark Old Medical School Site

Share

UC Irvine and Anaheim city officials will dedicate a plaque Thursday commemorating the original site of what ultimately became the UCI College of Medicine, founded in 1896.

The public ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at Broadway and Olive Street in Anaheim.

Originally named the Pacific School of Osteopathy, the college was in the old Hotel Del Campo.

The ceremony will include remarks by Dr. Thomas Cesario, dean of the UCI College of Medicine; Anaheim City Manager James D. Ruth and Dr. William Kott, a UCI alumnus who encouraged the city of Anaheim to place the marker, which is embedded in the sidewalk.
