A Cal Lutheran University teacher preparation program has received a Quality of Education award from the California Council for the Education of Teachers.

Cal Lutheran was honored for its Partnership in Inclusive Education program, which has university students working in the Moorpark school district to integrate disabled students into mainstream classrooms.

The program was implemented in 1995. A year later it was selected from a national pool as one of 10 projects to receive funding from the Council of Independent Colleges.

“The partnership is an example of a highly successful collaboration between our university and a school district that has been on the leading edge in implementing inclusive education,” said Carol Bartell, dean of Cal Lutheran’s School of Education.
