Reducing Risk of El Nino Damage

Share

The recent rainy weather has residents talking about El Nino. On Wednesday, they will have a chance to form a plan of defense against the expected winter storms at an El Nino preparation meeting.

Sponsored by the Studio City Chamber of Commerce and the Studio City Residents Assn., the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Carpenter Avenue Elementary School auditorium, 3909 Carpenter Ave.

Representatives from several city departments will be on hand to advise residents on the best ways to weather the storms, including safety and sanitation tips and methods for securing homes against downpours. Speakers from the public works, sanitation, building and safety, maintenance, fire and police departments will also be there.

“People from all walks of the community have shown a lot of interest in this program, and we’re getting a great response from the city,” said Christopher Walker, the chamber’s general manager.

Representatives from Councilman Mike Feuer’s office also will attend the meeting, Walker said.
