Yale Bans Sex Among Teachers, Students

From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Yale University decided to ban sex among students and teachers, toughening a policy that previously only frowned on such relations. The new policy, which does not spell out any punishment for violating the prohibition, is scheduled to take effect next semester. The policy was adopted following the recommendation of a 10-member committee appointed after a student complained that an assistant professor sexually harassed her. Two years ago, a 17-year-old female undergraduate accused former Yale assistant mathematics professor Jay Jorgenson of sexual harassment. He denied the allegations but resigned after a school grievance board suggested that he be dismissed.
