Smart & Final grocery chain plans to construct a 517,000-square-foot warehouse facility in the city of Commerce as part of a $100-million deal that includes moving its corporate headquarters from its current location in Vernon. The new warehouse will be built on a portion of a 64-acre site owned by Certified Grocers, a food broker, which will have to relocate about 500 employees to other parts of property to make way for the Smart & Final facility.
