Powwow at College to Benefit Students
Students at Ventura College will host a powwow Saturday, with the proceeds going toward scholarships and cultural programs to help the county’s Native American students.
Arts and crafts, storytelling, dancing and singing by elementary school students, who call themselves the Five Chumash Cousins, will highlight the event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 4667 Telegraph Road.
A $1 donation is requested.
The powwow is sponsored by the Candelaria American Indian Council, Ventura College Native American Student Club and the Channel Island Arts Institute.
