Alumni to Help Honor Boys Republic Anniversary
- Share via
Several South-Central Los Angeles youth and adult alumni of Boys Republic will be on hand as the center celebrates its 90th anniversary of providing care and education for boys throughout Southern California.
Located in Chino Hills, the center opened in 1908 with the mission of providing counseling and treatment for boys in trouble. The anniversary event will include an open house featuring a demonstration of how the facility’s popular all-natural “Della Robbia Christmas Wreaths” are made.
“There are no locks or guards at Boys Republic,” said Executive Director Max Scott. Through “tough love” and trust, the boys learn responsibility and govern themselves, a spokesman said.
