You’re making your list and we’ve made ours: tons of ideas for presents--even for those hardest to please. : From Elton to Boyz to Celine to Dylan, It’s an Album Bull Market
Looking for gift ideas? The list of the most popular CDs is always a place to start. For a little guidance, Calendar’s pop staff surveyed 40 of the nation’s most popular or critically acclaimed albums.
*** 1/2 EVERCLEAR, “So Much for the Afterglow,” Capitol. The Portland band makes its themes vivid through accumulation of detail, and Art Alexakis spits it out with a Lennon-like candor and an unruly, unstoppable energy.
** THE ROLLING STONES, “Bridges to Babylon,” Virgin. There are respectable moments, but overall this ballad-heavy collection is bland enough to make you long for the good old days of gratuitous controversy and sexist swagger.
