Twins Trial Deliberations Set to Continue Today

A Superior Court jury will return for a third day of deliberations today in the trial of Jeen Han, Archie Bryant and John Sayarath, who are accused of plotting to kill Han’s identical twin.

The panel of six men and six women deliberated for a full day Wednesday but did not reach a verdict.

Although there was little activity in the eighth-floor Santa Ana courtroom where the trial took place, the hallways were packed with international media waiting to report the outcome.

With little to report, the press swarmed around Christy Richardson, who said she got to know Jeen Han at the woman’s jail in Orange County.

“I like her, she’s a good person,” said Richardson, who added that Han seemed confident the case “was all going to be OK.”

The defendants face up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, plus additional time for charges including robbery and false imprisonment.

The prosecution contends the trio drove to Sunny Han’s Irvine apartment a year ago intending to kill her. As Jeen Han waited outside, Bryant, 17, and Sayarath, 16, allegedly tied up the twin and her roommate, Helen Kim, at gunpoint. Police arrived before either woman was harmed.

Defense attorneys contend the defendants wanted only to retrieve some of Jeen Han’s belongings.
