Little Saigon Cleanup Expected to Draw 300
More than 300 volunteers are expected to participate Saturday in the Fifth Annual Little Saigon Cleanup.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. at Magnolia Street and Bolsa Avenue.
Sponsored by UC Irvine’s Vietnamese American Coalition, a student group dedicated to empowering and building the Vietnamese community, the volunteers will pick up trash, sweep streets and take down all unauthorized posters along the one-mile cleanup route.
Huy Tran, a teacher in Anaheim, said the yearly event “brings out the best in our community--students, the elderly, people with disabilities, former gang members, Buddhists and Christians, Republicans and Democrats--all factions come together to show pride in our Vietnamese American community.”
