Tornadoes Kill 1, Hurt 30 in Louisiana

Tornadoes swept through the South, killing one person and injuring 30 in Louisiana and overturning mobile homes and destroying a church in Mississippi. Tornadoes, high wind and heavy rain hit Lafayette, La., in the late morning. Tornadoes later touched down 120 miles east in Covington, La., before moving into southern Mississippi.
