Fund-Raiser at CSUN

Share

* Millions of dollars are being “lost” at Cal State Northridge for students and faculty because the administration will not do as CSU Chancellor Barry Munitz recommended: hire a vice president fund-raiser. He said this several years ago. (“Key Post at CSUN Remains Unfilled,” July 10).

San Diego State and Cal State Long Beach raised $28.5 million and $22.8 million, respectively, last year with vice president fund-raisers. In July, we were told that the six-month national search for a CSUN vice president fund-raiser had failed. Now it’s November. Four more months lost. Still no vice president fund-raiser can be found in the United States?

Lack of money was the reason given for the killing of four men’s sports in June. That decision caused great suffering to student-athletes, parents and coaches. Munitz must step in and get students and faculty a vice president fund-raiser who can bring millions of dollars to CSUN. If he doesn’t, he will be as responsible as whoever is supposed to hire the supposedly impossible-to-find vice president.
