Gas prices dropped by more than a penny a gallon in the last two weeks, continuing a downward trend as motorists drive less and as prices of crude oil slip. The average gas price nationwide, including all grades and taxes, was $1.2497 per gallon Friday, down 1.2 cents from two weeks earlier, according to the Lundberg Survey of 10,000 stations nationwide. Prices are routinely higher in California than the national average because of stricter air-pollution control requirements and limited refinery capacity.
