Sophomore quarterback John Fox wasn’t very good in the fourth quarter against UCLA when USC needed him at his best.

“The learning experience can be painful,” offensive coordinator Hue Jackson said. “He’s a young guy. It’s no different story than Cade McNown or any other quarterback playing in this league his first year.”

USC managed only a field goal in the second half of its 31-24 loss to No. 7 UCLA--marking the eighth time in 11 games USC hasn’t scored a touchdown in the second half.

Delon Washington finished as USC’s leading rusher with only 444 yards in 125 carries--the lowest total for a Trojan rushing leader since 1960, when Hal Tobin had 318 in 61 carries.
