Ex-Drill Sergeant Gets 8-Year Term

A former Ft. Jackson Army drill sergeant was sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of sexual misconduct with female trainees. Staff Sgt. Robert McLean was acquitted on the most serious charge of rape, but he was convicted on seven others and given a bad conduct discharge. His rank was reduced to private, and he must forfeit all pay. McLean, 34, of Maxton, N.C., could have gotten life in prison if convicted on all counts.
