Opportunities for Volunteering

The city of Calabasas is looking for volunteers, ages 13 and older, to help with its 1997 Halloween Carnival. Volunteers will set up and staff carnival games as well as assist with coloring and costume contests. The carnival runs from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at Grape Arbor Park, the corner of Canwood Street and Parkville Road. Calabasas Teen Court is seeking high school students to serve as jurors in a mock court program.

Volunteers will listen to evidence, deliberate and decide cases during a 45-minute session.

The Teen Court session begins at 4:15 p.m. Oct. 16 in council chambers at Calabasas City Hall, 26135 Mureau Road. For information, call Jeff Rubin, recreation supervisor, at (818) 880-6461.

Community Wire, an information service offered by the city of Burbank, is seeking volunteers to enter information about local organizations into a computer database.

The information is later printed in directories and posted on the city’s Web site.
