SANTA ANA — John P. Reilly, an electrical contractor who failed to report $954,119 in income over two years, was put on probation Thursday for two years and ordered detained in his home for the first four months.
Reilly, 47, also was fined $1,000 by U.S. District Judge Alicemarie H. Stotler in Santa Ana. He already has paid back taxes of $362,131.
Reilly, of Santa Ana, had pleaded guilty to two counts of filing false income tax returns for 1993 and 1994.
During a routine audit, prosecutors have said, the Internal Revenue Service uncovered several unusual transactions and then discovered three hidden accounts containing unreported income.
