Reward Offered for Help in Finding Man’s Killer

Los Angeles Police Department homicide detectives are hoping a $25,000 reward offered by the City Council on Wednesday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer of a 20-year-old man in South Los Angeles will spur eyewitnesses to come forward and identify a gang member they suspect in the murder.

Tomir Hightower, 20, was standing in an alley behind 11019 S. Hoover St. the night of Aug. 11 when a lone gunman, believed to be a local gang member, opened fire, striking him once, according to police. Hightower was taken to Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, where he died.

“We believe we know who [the shooter] is, and we are just looking for some eyewitnesses or someone who he might have talked to about the murder to step forward,” said Det. Terry Carlos.
