Group Plans Events to Boost City Image

Share

Imagine concerts on the Village Green park, Shakespearean productions under the stars and events celebrating spiritual and cultural diversity.

That’s the vision of Renaissance Garden Grove, an organization seeking to produce, market and present a wide range of events in an effort to change the city’s staid image.

The nonprofit group received a major boost this week when the City Council agreed to lend it $5,000 for start-up costs. The group hopes to raise $250,000 for a slate of events to begin next summer.

Renaissance Garden Grove was the brainchild of the consulting firm Ellis/Hart, which has a $24,000 contract with the city to develop a marketing program.
