COLOMBIA : 1 Candidate Killed, Another Wounded

Marxist rebels killed one candidate and seriously wounded another as part of their campaign to sabotage next weekend’s local elections. Pablo Antonio Hernandez, a member of the ruling Liberal Party, who was running for mayor in the town of Saravena, was shot to death by two gunmen, police said. In a separate attack, rebel fighters opened fire on Fabio Ferrerosa, a candidate for the town council in Yumbo, wounding him.
