Clinics Offer Free Flu Vaccinations

Health officials are offering free and low-cost flu shots for the next month in Camarillo and Oxnard.

The free influenza vaccine can only be given to the following groups: people 60 and older, adults and children who have chronic medical problems that would be seriously complicated by the flu, and caregivers or health care workers involved with these two groups.

Those who do not qualify for the free vaccine will be charged $7.

No preregistration is required for the following clinics:

* Oct. 28 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Boys & Girls Club, South Oxnard Center, 200 E. Bard Road, Oxnard.

* Nov. 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church Hall, Las Posas Road and Crest View Drive, Camarillo.

* Nov. 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Santa Clara Church Elementary School auditorium, 323 South E. St., Oxnard.

* Nov. 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, 1600 N. Rose Ave., Oxnard.

The immunization clinics are sponsored by St. John’s Regional Medical Center, St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital, Camarillo Health Care District, Ventura County Public Health, and the Aetna and Sea View divisions of Huntington Provider Group.
