“With harvest upon us, it’s hard for me to pick out one wine that most impressed me recently. I try to taste grape varieties I currently produce from different areas and climates. Recently I had the 1996 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and loved it. It has a lot of herbal intensity balanced with great fruit. I also really liked the 1996 Neil Ellis Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa. It is more vegetal but has great length and texture in the mouth.”
