Hospice Nurses

I, too, can attest to the fact that home hospice nurses are true angels of mercy (“Comfort and Caring,” Oct. 14). Before my wife succumbed to cancer several months ago, she was given expert and loving care by a local home hospice organization. The nurse and the nurse’s aide, who did everything to make the patient comfortable and relatively free of pain during her final days, were also towers of strength to the family members, preparing them for the inevitable and assuring them help will always be available when needed, night or day, seven days a week.

There should be a Nobel Prize for home hospice caregivers, and every nurse should be a recipient.
