IRVINE — Newport Corp., which makes telecommunication and computer components and instruments, said Thursday that a subsidiary has received a $1.2-million order for its Polaris automated vision inspection systems.
The company did not release the name of the company that placed the order with Newport’s RAM Optical Instrument unit, except to say it was a manufacturer of magneto-resistive heads used in disk drives.
Newport Corp. said in a press release that the order reflects market penetration in computer peripherals, which it has targeted as a growth market.
