Sometimes, a Little Peer Honesty Can Help
Are your homeowner association board meetings democratic? Are you allowed to express an opinion without being put down, insulted or humiliated? Do you see the board violating the CC&Rs; and other governmental laws?
This describes my past board. What turned this situation around was my newsletter.
I wrote, perhaps, 20 newsletters in four years. It’s two-sided, on 8 1/2-by-11 paper. I deliver it to each unit. For about six bucks, it has done wonders:
Six of the seven directors have since moved away or were voted out. Our management agent was fired. Lawsuits were dropped. Assessments were raised to finance repairs.
Some advice:
You must be honest and accurate. Be sure of your facts and don’t say anything libelous. I have not had a single person rebut me.
