Rain Won’t Repeat Itself

Don’t get out the umbrella just yet, forecasters say. A system of showers and thunderstorms that dropped trace amounts of rain in Ventura County early Tuesday is not expected to repeat itself any time soon.

“This was a hit-or-miss event,” said Robin Jester, an engineer with the Ventura County Flood Control District. “One side of the street got wet and the other side didn’t.”

The rain stations in Simi Valley and at the County Government Center in Ventura both reported six-hundredths of an inch of rain, Jester said.

“It was enough to cause a few traffic accidents. That’s it,” she said.

Tuesday ended up being muggy, thanks to a subtropical air mass, said officials with the National Weather Service.

Tim McClung, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard, said that there could be scattered clouds at the 7,000-foot level over Ventura County today, but there is no rain in the forecast.

The clouds will dissipate further on Thursday, giving way to clear skies Friday.
