Terrence Clancy; Longtime Wine Executive

Terrence Clancy, 60, former president of the Wine Alliance and a member of the executive committee of the Wine Institute. Clancy, a native of Los Angeles and graduate of Occidental College, entered the wine business with E&J; Gallo in 1957. In 1981, he was hired as president of Callaway Vineyards in Temecula. In 1988, Britain’s Allied Lyons PLC appointed Clancy as president of its North American wine division and head of four wineries, Callaway, Clos du Bois, Atlas Peak and William Hill. Clancy received a heart transplant in 1993 and died in San Francisco on Tuesday of a heart attack.
