Liberals Employ Double Standard

* Democrats in the state Senate have voted to deny reconfirmation of a Republican Hispanic regent of the University of California and the Democrat lieutenant governor opposes a black Republican’s bid to become the new chairman of the regents, yet none in the liberal media charge racism (“Connerly Won’t Seek Top UC Regents Post,” Aug. 26).
What a double standard is employed by the liberals. You can be sure that if Tirso del Junco and Ward Connerly were liberal Democrats, every liberal voice would be yelling outrage. But liberal Democrats get away with denying able and competent Californians the opportunity to serve their state, and not one liberal voice is raised.
Let’s face it. The Democrats aren’t really interested in blacks and Hispanics gaining stature and success in society; they just want to promote them if they are partisan liberal Democrats.
Del Junco and Connerly are distinguished and accomplished conservative Republican Californians. That they happen to be Hispanic or black has not made a difference in their success and progress in Republican ranks. But, it is obvious, such opportunity is clearly denied by the Democrats.
