Forced Sterilization

How can we condemn Sweden’s sterilization of “genetically inferior persons” (“A Victim of Sweden’s Pursuit of Perfection,” Sept. 2) with any pretense of moral superiority? The U.S. Supreme Court gave its blessing to the same thing in Buck vs. Bell, 1927, when the great liberal icon Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. pontificated, “Three generations of imbeciles are enough,” and advocated castration for those he deemed unworthy of the privilege--not right--of becoming parents.

It’s time we admitted that such actions as the recent judicial decision that underage girls don’t need to inform their parents before having abortions is just part of our long liberal/Nazi tradition of “freedom.” Eventually Big Brother will pass enough laws to take full control of our sex lives in order to do what’s best for the “general welfare.”
