DEARBORN, Mich. — Mothers Against Drunk Driving is using Princess Diana’s death in a new ad campaign to show that not even the rich and famous are safe from drunk drivers.
“In no way do we want to downplay or diminish her death,” said Katherine Prescott, MADD national president. “But we would be remiss if we didn’t point out that alcohol was involved.” In one ad, 120 names of girls and women are listed under the headline “We’ve Seen Too Many Princesses Die.”
Diana, her companion Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul were killed in an accident in Paris two weeks ago. Three blood tests on Paul have indicated he had more than three times the legal level of alcohol in his system at the time of the crash. Some have also blamed pursuing photographers for the accident.
