From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Florida’s worst infestation of crop-killing Medflies in 40 years appears to be over. State officials said they have gained the upper hand against the tiny bug that threatened Florida’s $7 billion agriculture industry, particularly its citrus crop. The Medfly infestation affected five counties extending from Tampa to the suburbs of Orlando. The Medfly could have wiped out entire crops of 250 varieties of fruits and vegetables.
