Workshop to Give Tips on Composting
With a little know-how, kitchen scraps can be turned into black gold.
At a free Sept. 27 workshop hosted by the city of Simi Valley, participants will learn how to turn grass cuttings and fruit and vegetable scraps into rich dark compost. While it isn’t pretty to look at, compost is a nutritious treat for gardens.
The workshop is part of the city’s efforts to meet state-mandated waste-reduction goals.
The workshop will take place between 10 a.m. and noon at the east end of Rancho Tapo Community Park. Parking is available at the courthouse on Alamo Street. Participants are advised to bring a lawn chair or a blanket.
